County, Arizona Photo by Will Wells Distribution: In our region, this species occurs in north and far west Texas, then westward throughout much of New Mexico, most of Arizona, southwestern Utah, extreme southern Nevada and in the southeastern corner of California.Legal Status: Anaxyrus cognatus is listed as a species of concern by the state of Utah. Otherwise, it has no protected status in our region.
