Distribution:  In our region, this species occurs in California from the Mexican border northward to the south side of San Gorgonio Pass near Cabazon.

Legal Status:  Phyllodactylus  nocticolus is protected from collecting in California.

Taxonomic Note: The taxonomy of Phyllodactylus nocticolus is controversial. Some researchers still list it as Phyllodactylus xanti nocticolus or Phyllodactylus xanti
