DISTRIBUTION: In our region, Caretta caretta occurs along the Gulf Coast of Texas from Port O’connor to Brownsville, and in the Pacific Ocean along the coast of southern California.
LEGAL STATUS: In Texas Caretta caretta is listed as Threatened by both the State of Texas and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. In California this species is listed as Endangered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
