DISTRIBUTION: In our region, Leptodeira septentrionalis is documented only in extreme south Texas from Cameron, Hidalgo, Kenedy, Kleberg, Starr, and Willacy Counties. We are aware of an old unvouchered specimen from Zapata County and expect that with adequate field work being done in the area the species will eventually be found in Brooks and Jim Hogg Counties.
LEGAL STATUS: The state of Texas lists Leptodeira septentrionalis as a Threatened Species.
