Broad-banded Water Snake
Nerodia fasciata confluens

DISTRIBUTION: In our region, Nerodia f. confluens occurs throughout east and southeast Texas. Old museum records do exist for this species from both Bexar County and Nueces County and there are old vague literature records for the species from both Jim Wells County and Kleberg County. However, we do not believe that Nerodia f. confluens has existed in those four counties in more recent times. We are indicating our skepticism on the range map by placing a “?” in each of those four counties.
