Foothill Yellow-legged Frog
Rana boylii
DISTRIBUTION: In our region, Rana boylii occurs in California in the northern Sierra Nevada Mountains and in streams draining to the south coast range into the Central Valley. Some populations may still remain in the foothills of the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains but are believed to be nearly extinct. This frog no longer exists along the coast of California south of Monterey County or in the San Gabriel Mountains of Los Angeles County.
LEGAL STATUS: Rana boylii is protected in California as a Species of Special Concern.
