DISTRIBUTION: In our region, Rana draytonii historically occurred along the California coast from Mendocino County in the north to the Mexican border in the south. It also inhabits the Sierra Nevada Mountains on the eastern side of the California Central Valley. Today, it is sadly missing from most of its historical natural habitat in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range and from natural habitats in southern California.
LEGAL STATUS: Rana draytonii is protected in California as a Species of Special Concern and is listed as Threatened under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
