DISTRIBUTION: In our region, Salvadora h. mohavensis occurs Mojave Desert regions of California, Arizona and Utah, and in the Mojave Desert and Great Basin Desert regions of Nevada.

MEANING OF SCIENTIFIC NAME: Salvadora hexalepis mohavensis (Bogert – 1945)
Genus: Salvadora, Latin – salvus= whole, sound, well preserved + dura = hide, skin
Species: hexalepis, Greek – hex = six + lepisma = scale – ref. 6th supralabial reaching the eye in the holotype
Subspecies: mohavensis, Latin = belonging to the Mojave Desert
