Genus: AneidesGreek – an = lacking + eidos = form or shape — Jaeger – Greek – aneidos, = “shapeless” – Baird spelled it “Anaides.”
Species/Subspecies: flavipunctatus, Latin = flavi = yellow + punctatus = spotted — ref. conspicuous white or yellow iridophores on dark background
