DISTRIBUTION: In our region, Aneides hardii occurs in isolated populations in south-central New Mexico.
LEGAL STATUS: Aneides hardii is protected in the State of New Mexico.
MEANING OF SCIENTIFIC NAME: Aneides hardii (Taylor, 1941)
Genus: Aneides, Greek – an = lacking + eidos = form or shape — Jaeger – Greek – aneidos, = “shapeless” – Baird spelled it “Anaides.”
