DISTRIBUTION: In our region, Aspidoscelis t. punctilinealis occurs throughout most of the southern half of Arizona.

MEANING OF SCIENTIFIC NAME: Aspidoscelis tigris punctilinealis (Dickerson – 1919)
Genus: Aspidoscelis, Greek  aspido = shield + scelis (skelos) = leg – pos. ref. large shield-like scales on legs
Species: tigris, Latin = of a tiger – ref. dorsum pattern
Subspecies: punctilinealis, Latin – punctus = puncture or point + linealis = along the lines
