DISTRIBUTION: In our region, Cemophora c. lineri is only known from several counties located along the Texas Coastal Bend and in south Texas.

LEGAL STATUS: Cemophora c. lineri  is protected by the state of Texas as a Threatened species.

MEANING OF SCIENTIFIC NAME: Cemophora coccinea lineri (Brown & Wilson – 1966)
Genus: Cemophora, Greek –  kemos = muzzle +  phoros = bearing — ref. pronounced rostral scale
 Species: coccinea, Latin – coccineus = scarlet, red like a berry
Subspecies: lineri, honors Ernest A. Liner
