DISTRIBUTION: In our region, Crotalus o. concolor occurs in northeastern Arizona and southern Utah.

MEANING OF SCIENTIFIC NAME: Crotalus oreganus concolor (Woodbury – 1929)
Genus: Crotalus, Greek – krotalon = a rattle ref. rattle on tail
Species: oreganus, Latin – oregano = belonging to the state of Oregon – pos. ref. to locality of type specimen
Subspecies: concolor, Latin = of the same colors – pos. ref. to lack of contrast in pattern coloration
