DISTRIBUTION: In our region, Eurycea chisholmensis occurs only in the Salado creek area of Bell County, Texas.
LEGAL STATUS: Eurycea chisholmensis is listed by the State of Texas as a Threatened Species.
MEANING OF SCIENTIFIC NAME: Eurycea chisholmensis (Chippindale, Price, Wiens and Hillis, 2000)
Genus: Eurycea, probably honors Eurydice — although Rafinesque only wrote “Mythological” (Greek) – Eurydice was the wife of Orpheus.
Species: chisholmensis , belonging to the Chisholm Trail
