DISTRIBUTION: In our region, Gyalopian canum occurs in central /south-central Texas, Along the Rio Grande and Pecos River valleys into New Mexico and across southern New Mexico into extreme southeastern Arizona.

MEANING OF SCIENTIFIC NAME: Gyalopian canum (Cope 1861)
Genus: Gyalopion, Greek = small hollow – ref. up-turned rostral with distinct concave dorsal surface.
Species: canum, Latin – canutus = white, frosty, gray, whitish gray
