DISTRIBUTION: In our region, Plestiodon g. gilberti occurs only in California in the foothills and middle elevations in the Yosemite area of the central Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Genus: Plestiodon, Greek – plestios = many + odon = tooth or teeth
