DISTRIBUTION: In our region, Plestiodon g. rubricaudatus occurs in California in the foothills and middle elevations of the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains and South Coast ranges, south along the Transverse and Peninsular ranges to the Mexican border. It is also found in isolated populations in western Arizona and southwestern Nevada.
