DISTRIBUTION: In our region, Plethodon albagula occurs only in the Texas Hill Country and there are also two isolated populations in east Texas.

LEGAL STATUS: No Listings

TAXONOMIC NOTE:  It has been determined that this species contains several distinct lineages, but taxonomic revision awaits more research. (Baird et al., Copia 2006: 760-768).

MEANING OF SCIENTIFIC NAME: Plethodon albagula (Grobman, 1944)
Genus: Plethodon, Greek – plethore =fullness or full of + odon = teeth — ref. to the number of vomerine and paravomerine teeth
Species: albagula, Latin – alba = white + gula = throat — ref. color of chin
