DISTRIBUTION: In our region, Thamnophis p. proximus occurs throughout northeast Texas and westward into the Texas Panhandle where it freely intergrades with other Thamnophis proximus subspecies. The poorly defined areas of intergradation are still in need of additional work to better define them.
